Journal of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (JMTSS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published by the International MTSS Association (IMA). JMTSS is dedicated to advancing high-quality research and applied scholarship that strengthens the design, implementation, and sustainability of MTSS frameworks across academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health domains.
Focus and Scope
JMTSS publishes original empirical research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, implementation studies, policy analyses, and practitioner-researcher collaborations that inform MTSS practice at the classroom, school, district, state, and international levels. A defining feature of the journal is its explicit emphasis on bridging research to practice, with particular attention to implementation science, systems coherence, and interdisciplinary integration across academic RTI, PBIS, SEL, and related frameworks.
Open Access Policy
JMTSS is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are freely available online immediately upon publication, with no subscription or access fees for readers. This policy reflects IMA’s mission to expand global access to high-quality MTSS research and support evidence-based decision-making worldwide.
