The Journal of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (JMTSS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the International MTSS Association (IMA). JMTSS is dedicated to advancing the science and practice of MTSS through rigorous, actionable scholarship that bridges research, policy, leadership, and implementation across global educational systems.

Focus and Scope
JMTSS publishes high-quality empirical research, conceptual papers, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and evidence-informed practice briefs related to MTSS. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to: Implementation science, leadership for systems change, tiered instruction and intervention, fidelity and continuous improvement, data-based decision making, equity-centered systems of support, professional learning, and international or cross-sector MTSS models. The journal prioritizes work with clear implications for practice and sustainability at scale.

Open Access Policy
JMTSS is fully open access, ensuring that all published articles are freely available to researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the public worldwide. The journal is hosted and managed through Open Journal Systems (OJS), supporting transparency, accessibility, and broad dissemination of knowledge.

Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright of their work and grant JMTSS a license to publish and distribute the article. Published content may be used, shared, and cited in accordance with the journal’s open-access licensing policies, supporting ethical reuse and global knowledge sharing.

Peer Review and Ethics
JMTSS employs a double-anonymous peer review process, with each manuscript reviewed by at least three independent experts. History and Publication Frequency
JMTSS is a newly established journal, with its inaugural issue scheduled for publication in 2026. The journal will publish two issues per year, with the goal of moving to quarterly publication as submissions and capacity grow.
